(March 21, 2008) Whitfit is a Board Member of the Guardians of Jericho, Inc.

As we wait for official word of Jericho's fate from Carol Barbee (we know its been cancelled on CBS, but CBS-Paramount and Junction are shopping it around to other venues), the Guardians of Jericho want to reaffirm our committment to making Jerichon 2008 a success. We will not allow the cancellation of Jericho to cancel the Jerichon, assuming that enough people are still interested in attending.

Jerichon 2008 may be a chance to show other venues that the TV show is not dead. It has a passionate following, willing to spend money on Ads in publications, Nuts, and travel costs of going to Oakley, Kansas, the location of the fictional Jericho in the series. If Jerichon is huge, and we hope that it will be, it will show the world that we are not just going to go away.

Jericho was a great show and it allowed a great community to develop around it. Yes, it is another sad day for television and Jericho but we still have our community, something they can't take away from us. That community is converging in Oakley for the second time in history on Memorial Day Weekend '08. Hope to see you there.

As most of you are aware, the Southern Missouri area was hit very hard with an ice storm of unprecedented magnitude. A bowling alley in Ava, Missouri that has stood for 30 plus years crumbled under the weight of almost two inches of ice Monday evening, several dozen 12 year olds barely made it out after the owner evacuated the building before the roof cracked and collapsed. Nothing is left of that bowling alley save for the foundation and the cement walls.

How far have we come since our darkest hours back in May of 2007? We organized, we fought, and we prospered. We made history by actually getting a network to reverse its decision. Then many of us met in a little town called Oakley, KS for the first ever Jerichon. Lately, we've been promoting our show trying to get as many people as possible to tune in for the new season. It is now time to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Not only does our show start its new season tonight after we thought it was gone forever, but we start a new chapter, ourselves. The Guardians of Jericho are looking for a few good Rangers to serve on the G of J board. Three seats will be available at the next Jerichon and we have two vacancies now.

Requirements: Must be a member of the Guardians of Jericho. Most Jerichon attendees received an automatic membership. Memberships are also available via the G of J web site.

Time Required: Board meetings are twice per month with Committee meetings interspersed between board meetings. As the Jerichon draws closer, there may be more meetings.

Over the course of the last 24 hours, the original Guardians of Jericho website unexpectedly went down and hard enough that it left myself and Tim scratching our heads. There was no indication that it was in any kind of trouble, it just went ka-blooey.

We had spent several times on the phone and in email discussing changes to the site long before this took place. Once the site went down, we had no choice but to implement our original plans. We've worked very hard all day, spending Gods knows how long on the phone and we have created a fresh, brand new site as a result.
